Stacy's 'birthday' album

By Steven Patrick

Singer Stacy turned 21 recently and celebrated with a big bash and an album.

“It was a big celebration on Aug 18. I invited the whole kampung in Penampang, Sabah. There were over 300 people there,” she says.

Besides the huge bash, Stacy is also celebrating her birthday…musically, with the release of her second album Stay-C.

“There are more ballads on this album. I’m so pleased that I can do ballads now. When I sing some of them the mood and lyrics are so touching I feel like crying,” she says at the album launch in Kuala Lumpur, recently.

But there are still lots of dance stuff on the album, which includes contributions by KRU’s Edry Abdul Halim.

“That’s how I made my name. I still love the fast stuff that you can dance to. There's a song that he wrote, called Kasanova that's really high-energy,” she says.

Besides, the dance stuff, there's also a duet with rock legend Amy Search.

“It was great singing with him. He’s one of my heroes. It was like a great birthday present,” she says.

Stacy's new eight-song album was recorded under Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd and distributed by Warner Music.

Stacy came on the scene when she won the Akademi Fantasia 6 reality singing-show search.

She then won the Best New Artiste category in 2008 at the Anugerah Bintang Popular awards.

She released her debut in 2009, called Aku Stacy.
