LANGKAWI LEGEND PARK

Langkawi's Legend Garden was built based on an idea of the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The Garden shows the mythical and legendary heritage which remains the core of Langkawi's allure. The Garden, which covers an area of 50 acres, is built on reclaimed land and cost approximately RM37 million to build. It is beautifully landscaped with 4 lakes, a lagoon and a beach.

Beras Terbakar, or the 'field of burnt rice', is the place where villagers torched the paddy fields to prevent Siamese invaders from getting their rice grains several centuries ago. Villagers maintain that to this day heavy rain sometimes brings traces of burnt rice grains to the surface.
