He rose through the ranks and is currently the vice president of the Federation of Chinese Association. He is also the Youth head of the same association.

His biggest challenge came in the form of working together with other NGOs on big projects. His forte is known to be coordinating the efforts of all NGOs, government bodies and private firms to work together to achieve a common goal of not only to promote the Chinese culture but also the State of Sabah.

One such event was the elaborate staging of the Celebrating Malaysia-China 35 years of friendship in Cultural Unity. Steven was also the main contributor of the Beijing Olympics promotions in Kota Kinabalu. He managed to convince the Ambassador of China to Malaysia to have the Olympic mascots and the torch to be exhibited in the capital.

His most outstanding humanitarian effort was in the area of youth development. One such effort was in getting China to include Sabah Chinese youths to attend the annual youth camp in Xiamen-Root Seeking Winter Camp, the first for Sabah youths.

Meanwhile, Pang in his speech read by Jahid said the winners will be the icon for the youth of this state and they will become an inspiration for fellow Sabahans and in the process not only develop themselves but also the state.
